Simmer raisins in water to plump, set aside to cool. Drain and keep juice. Add enough water to juice to make 1/2 cup. Stir soda into juice. In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients. Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add liquid then add dry incredients and raisins. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto cookie sheet. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. |
